The fifth pathway provides a period of supervised clinical training to students who obtained their premedical education in the United States, received undergraduate medical education abroad, and pass a screening examination approved by the CCME. When these students successfully complete a year of clinical training sponsored by a U.S. medical school they then become eligible for an AMA approved internship or residency.A form of postgraduate medical education, in which graduates of international medical training programs undergo supervised clinical clerkships in the U.S. to complete their residency training.
