A test done on blood to detect a particular cause of anemia, called paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), in which destroyed red blood cells are found in the urine, generally for several days in a row, more often during the night. This problem occurs irregularly, together with other symptoms such as headache and abdominal and back pain.A test for diagnosing paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, in which red cells are assessed for resistance to lysis during incubation with acidified serum.
