A mass of lymphoid tissue situated in various points of the lymphatic system, especially under the armpits and in the groin, through which lymph passes and in which lymphocytes are produced.A rounded mass of lymphatic tissue that is surrounded by a capsule of connective tissue. Lymph glands filter lymphatic fluid, and they store lymphocytes (white blood cells). They are located along lymphatic vessels. Also called a lymph node.
