A bright-colored flush over the malar area and cheekbones. It may be associated with any febrile disease.A pronounced coloration on the cheekbones, tinged with blue due to lowered oxygen levels in the blood, is termed a malar flush. It's often seen as an indicator of mitral stenosis, a constriction of one of the heart valves often resulting from rheumatic fever. However, not everyone with mitral stenosis exhibits a malar flush, and many with such facial coloration don't suffer from heart ailments.
