Noise pollution is associated with urban development and includes noise caused by air, road, and rail transport: industrial activities; and recreational events such as loud parties or concerts. Many common sounds contribute to noise pollution, including jackhammers, jet planes, car alarms, and excessively loud music, all of which are likely to exceed 90 decibels (the measure of the intensity of sound). Repeated exposure to noise in excess of 90 decibels can cause permanent hearing loss.A level of environmental noise of such nature or intensity as to cause mental or physical discomfort or damage to the hearing system.
