This leads to the production of voluminous, loose, pale-colored, oily, and foul-smelling stools that tend to float in the toilet. Steatorrhea can manifest in cases of pancreatitis and coeliac disease, where the normal fat breakdown from food is disrupted, as well as after the removal of significant portions of the small intestine. Additionally, it can arise as a side effect of certain lipid-lowering medications.
