</html><description>A small abscess occurring on the edge of the upper or lower eyelid or in the eye&#x2019;s corner. A stye, also called a hordeolum, is caused by a bacterial infection, which is usually due to staphylococcal bacteria, of the glands at the base of the eyelid. The surrounding area may be red and swollen and painful or itching. The stye may range from the size of a pinhead to the size of a pea. Styes usually drain without treatment.Acute inflammation of a gland at the base of an eyelash, caused by bacterial infection. The gland becomes hard and tender and a pus-filled cyst develops at its center. Styes are treated by bathing in warm water or removal of the eyelash involved.Referred to as a hordeolum as well, it's a minor abscess containing pus situated at the root of an eyelash, stemming from a bacterial infection.A small pus-filled swelling that develops in the follicle of an eyelash.</description></oembed>
