Since testicular cancer often develops without symptoms, regular self- examination is a preventive measure that can catch the disease early, when it is most curable. Physicians recommend that males between the ages of 15 and 40 examine their testicles every month. The man or boy should seek medical attention if an area feels bumpy and hard or if one of the testicles is swollen. Pain and swelling in the scrotum can indicate an infection.
