All these alkaloids have an anticholinergic effect which may cause a dry mouth, dilated pupils with blurred vision, tachycardia, hallucinations and pyrexia. There may also be ataxia, agitation, disorientation and confusion. In severe cases there may be convulsions, coma, respiratory depression and arrhythmias.
