In particular, he criticized Puthoff and Targ\u2019s method of control of experiments in telepathic communication of local views of the Stanford area. By enabling \u201cviewers\u201d to eliminate possible \u201ctargets\u201d one by one, they were increasing the probability of scoring a subsequent \u201chit.\u201d Hyman took the position that before allowing the existence of any paranormal phenomena, any possible explanations by established normal means must be totally eliminated.
