An organization, founded in 1965 by Ronald J. Willis, devoted to research and study of unexplained natural phenomena. INFO filled the vacuum left by the demise of the Fortean society five year previously. The books of Charles Hoy Fort and the efforts of the society had created a community interested in exploring strange, anomalous phenomena. A number of Forteans believed that in its later years the society had lost its original focus, and they observed that many of those attracted to it had been people also drawn to various alternative social movements and beliefs. The society\u2019s energy was drained in support of their extraneous causes.<\/p>\n
INFO emerged as an organization more closely focused on unexplained phenomena. INFO\u2019s Journal publishes articles on strange and unexplained phenomena and updates information on items discussed in Fort\u2019s books (many of which have, in the intervening decades, been more closely investigated and thus the subject of more conventional explanations). INFO, currently head\u00ac quartered in Arlington, Virginia, sponsors an annual convention that supplies a platform for the many researchers and writers in the field.<\/p>\n
