Encouraged by Ford, Montgomery began to practice meditation and soon found that she had the ability to do automatic writing, a form of channeling in which one enters a trancelike or deeply meditative state, allowing spirits to guide the hand and write messages. Using a control named Lily, Montgomery would communicate with an anonymous group of entities known as Guides.<\/p>\n
Lily and the Guides dictated their philosophy to Montgomery. According to them, all souls are \u201csparks of the Creator\u201d that exist naturally on higher vibrational planes of existence that our own. Souls either advance spiritually to ever higher and purer planes, or choose to work out past karmic debt in flesh incarnate.<\/p>\n
