A semi-sitting position. The head of an adjustable bed can be elevated to the desired height to produce angulation of the body, usually 45\u00b0 to 60\u00b0. The knees may or may not be bent. A wedge support can be used to elevate the patient’s head and back if an adjustable bed is not available. The position is used to facilitate breathing and drainage and for the comfort of the bedridden patient while eating or talking.<\/p>\n
The position a patient takes when the head of their bed is elevated to a height of 18 to 20 inches above the level. A similar posture can be achieved by using a backrest, and it’s the position in which most patients with chest-related conditions are cared for.<\/p>\n
