The condition is identified through blood tests. To alleviate a tetany attack, calcium may be slowly injected into a vein. To keep the blood calcium at a healthy level, lifelong treatment with calcium and vitamin D tablets is essential.<\/p>\n

This condition can occasionally occur after partial surgical removal of the thyroid gland.
