The process of assigning job activities and related authority to specific persons within the organization: delegate.<\/p>\n

In the PSRO program, the formal process by which a PSKO, based upon an assessment of the willingness and capability of a hospital or other health program to effectively perform PSRO review functions, assigns the performance of some (partial delegation) or all (full delegation) PSRO review functions to the program. Delegation must be agreed upon in a written memorandum of understanding signed by both the PSRO and the program. The PSRO monitors the program’s performance of the delegated functions without itself conducting them, and retains responsibility for the effectiveness of the review.<\/p>\n
