A series of graphs that interpolate human data and predict degree of body fat, metabolic rate, and desirable caloric intake.<\/p>\n
A tool in the form of a graph in which the scales for at least three variables are so constructed and placed that a straight line drawn between the appropriate values on two of the scales will intersect the third scale at the point which will give the correct value on that scale. Sometimes nomograms might be termed compound, in that two variables are used to give the value of a third, and then the point on that scale (the scale for the third variable) is joined to still a fourth scale, and the final value read from a fifth scale. For example, a nomogram could be constructed using scales for temperature, humidity, and wind chill (see the illustration on the next page). A straight line connecting temperature and humidity would cross the wind chill scale at the point which would give its value. Also called nomograph or alignment chart.<\/p>\n
