Orthopedic brace

An appliance that supports a bone or joint structure and its associated muscles, tendons, and ligaments to aid in repair following injury or surgery or that is worn to promote proper positioning of the spine or the extremities. Orthopedic braces may be prescribed for the treatment of instability in the shoulder or knee and to treat conditions including kyphosis (excessive backward curvature of the spine).
