A surgical procedure for women to correct stress incontinence (urine leakage when coughing or sneezing) caused by a cystourethrocele, a weakness in the tissues supporting the bladder and urethra. Surgery is indicated only when Kegel exercises, hormone replacement therapy, and other treatments have not been effective in correcting the pelvic support problems that cause urine leakage.
