An ancient system of medical practice that emphasizes the interdependence of mind, body, and vitality for mental and physical health. In Tibetan medicine, diagnosis involves listening to the person and examining his or her pulse, urine, and tongue —called the “three humors.” Methods of therapy include diet, lifestyle modification, herbal medicine, and moxibustion. Tibetan medicine is thought to be particularly successful in the treatment of chronic diseases, including arthritis, rheumatism, ulcers, asthma, eczema, anxiety, and various disorders of the nervous system.
