Enkephalins

Enkephalins, a cluster of tiny protein molecules, are generated in the brain and nerve endings located throughout the body, including the digestive system and adrenal glands. These substances possess analgesic properties, acting as painkillers, and are believed to influence one’s mood. Although enkephalins share similarities with endorphins, they have a slightly distinct chemical makeup and are released by separate nerve endings.
