The minerals present in the body in small amounts (less than five grams). Also known as trace minerals, these include chromium, cobalt, copper, fluorine, iodine, iron, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, selenium, silicon, tin, vanadium, and zinc. The body must replenish these from foods.
A micromineral can be defined as a mineral that is required in amounts less than 100 mg per day or a mineral that constitutes less than 0.01% of the weight of the body.
