An internal connection interface consisting of a converging circular surface, which forms a mechanical locking friction‐fit. Also known as a cold weld and morse taper connection: taper of 3° (6° total convergence) or a reduction of 5/8 inch per linear foot of cylinder length. It describes one method of internal abutment connection, although the Straumann implant‐ abutment connection to which the term is applied is not technically a morse taper but rather an 8° (16° total convergence) cylindrical taper.
