Negative predictive value

The proportion of negative responses to a diagnostic test for a disease that are accurate indicators of the true absence of the malady in a population. Expressed arithmetically as a proportion which is calculated as the number of true‐negative responses divided by the sum of true‐negative responses plus false‐negative responses, i.e., negative predictive value = TN/(TN + FN).

The proportion of people whose test results are “true” negatives and who are truly disease free.
