The degree of physical and psychological development demonstrated by an individual to function effectively in a particular environment.
Being fully developed.
(In psychology) the state of being a responsible adult.
A general term referring to a child’s relative stage of development, in areas such as growth (see growth and growth disorders), social skills, and communication skills, compared to the development of other children of the same AGE. Various tests (such as the Gesell Preschool Test) may be used to help estimate a child’s maturity, with the results sometimes being converted to age-equivalent scores, indicating whether a child’s development stands at, above, or below the average for children of his or her age.
