Malformation

An unusual variation in the shape, structure or development of something.


Abnormal shape or structure; deformity; in medicine, often refers to a congenital problem.


Congenital defect resulting from abnormal prenatal development. Malformation can occur in a single organ or a larger area of the body and usually refers to a structural defect, such as a cleft lip. Malformation stems from abnormal differentiation of cells and tissues during early embryo development.


Any variation from the normal physical structure, due either to congenital or developmental defects or to disease or injury.


Deformity; abnormal shape or structure, especially congenital.


A deformity, especially one that arises due to improper development of a baby while in the mother’s womb.
