Microcytosis

The presence of excess microcytes in the blood.


Blood disorder characterized by abnormally small erythrocytes (red blood cells), often associated with iron-deficiency anemia.


The presence of abnormally small red cells (microcytes) in the blood. Microcytosis is a feature of certain anemias (microcytic anemias), including iron-deficiency anemias, certain hemoglobinopathies, anemias associated with chronic infections, etc.
