  • Demand value unit

    An intermittent positive pressure breathing unit used to assist or control ventilation with a valve connected to an oxygen source that opens in response to a person’s inspiratory effort and inflates the lungs until a preset pressure limit is reached. This unit is not acceptable on ambulances unless a manual control is provided.  

  • Demand reduction

    A strategy for preventing drug abuse by reducing or eliminating the actual demand, desire, or need for various drug substances.

    In experimentation, the cues that tell a subject what the experimenter expects of him or her.

    An unrealistic sense of personal importance or power.

    Unjustified belief that one is the target of personal attack or injury, delusion.

The large triangular muscle that covers the shoulder joint. The deltoid muscle is referred to by its anterior, middle, and posterior fibers and is controlled by the axillary nerve.  

  • Delta rhythms

    Brain waves of less than four cycles per second; the dominant pattern in a sleeping adult.
