    A specification of the responsibilities to be carried out by the person who holds the job and the methods needed to be used to fulfill the requirements for the job.  

  • Job description

    Specific activities that a particular job entails and the desired qualifications of the person who holds the job. Document that outlines all the duties and responsibilities of a particular position in a salon or spa.

    The categorization of jobs based on skill and experience level linked to a particular salary scale.

    In the construction of aptitude tests, the analysis of the criterion performance into subskills.  

  • Jellinek theory of alcoholism

    Named after its developer E. M. Jellinek (1890-1963), a theory claiming that alcoholics may present their patterns of alcohol use in a wide range of patterns. The theory is flawed and has little scientific validity, though its influence has been quite significant.

  • Jaw thrust maneuver

    A procedure for opening the airway. The jaw is lifted and pulled forward to keep the tongue from falling back into the airway. The lower lip is pulled down to force the mouth open.
