  • Overpopulation

  • Overlapping responsibility

    A situation in which several people may be responsible for the same activity.  

  • Overlapping distribution

    A statistical term describing situations in which, although a difference exists between the overall values of a particular variable for two groups, the values of the variable for some individual members of the two groups are the same.  

  • Overgeneralization

    The tendency to draw an inappropriately general or illogical conclusion from very limited data or experience.  

  • Overfat

    A condition in which a person possesses more body fat than is normal for people of the same height and sex overweight; obesity.  

  • Overextension

    A child’s tendency to use a rather specific term to refer to a wide class of referents. In dentistry, the assessment of the vertical extent of a root canal filling, denoting an extrusion beyond the apical foramen.  

  • Overcontrolled

    In reference to childhood disorders, a situation in which a child cannot adequately cope with stress and anxiety and may withdraw socially because of a very controlling environment.
