  • Toxbase

    This the main toxicology database of the National Poisons Information Service. It is available on the Internet. Toxbase gives information about routine diagnosis, treatment and management of people exposed to drugs, household products and industrial and agricultural chemicals.  

  • Tizanidine

    A skeletal-muscle relaxant used in patients whose muscle spasticity is associated with multiple sclerosis (MS) or injury to the spinal cord. Its side-effects include drowsiness, tiredness, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea and lowered blood pressure.

  • Thyrotrophin-stimulating hormone

    A hormone manufactured by the anterior part of the pituitary gland which stimulates the thyroid gland to manufacture thyroid hormones (thyroxine and tri-iodothyronine).  

  • Thiazolidinedione drugs

    A group of drugs used to treat type-2 diabetes which work by suppressing the activity of resistin, a recently discovered hormone that acts against insulin. Resistin links obesity to type-2 diabetes, which has long been known to be associated with overweight subjects.  

  • Thiabendazole

    The drug of choice for adults infected with the intestinal parasite Strongyloides stercoralis. Its side-effects, including anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, itching and drowsiness, are more troublesome in elderly patients.
