Tic douloureux

Another name for trigeminal neuralgia due to some affection of the fifth cranial nerve, and characterized by pain situated somewhere about the temple, forehead, face, or jaw and sometimes by spasm in the muscles of the affected region.


A severe type of facial pain, affecting the area on the side of the face served by the fifth cranial nerve. This intense pain can be triggered by simple actions like brushing one’s hair. It’s also known as prosopalgia or trigeminal neuralgia.
