Eggfruit

The produce of a tree indigenous to the West Indies, compact and resembling an olive in shape, with a vivid orange hue and an unappealing, decomposed exterior once it has reached maturity. Its saccharine nature renders it unsuitable for direct consumption, but its inherent sweetness makes it an optimal ingredient for the creation of flavorful spreads such as jams and jellies.
