Elastic tissue

Specialized tissue lying in the lung and the great vessels and large arteries capable of stretching and recoiling.

Connective tissue which contains elastic fibres, e.g. in the walls of arteries or of the alveoli in the lungs.

Strong extensible flexible connective tissue rich in yellow elastic fibers. These are long, thin, and branching and are composed primarily of an albumin like protein, elastin. Elastic tissue is found in the dermis of the skin, in arterial walls, and in the walls of the alveoli of the lungs.

Connective tissue which contains a profusion of yellow elastic fibres. Long, slender and branching, these fibres (made up of elastin, an albumin-like protein) ensure that the elastic tissue is flexible and stretchable. The dermis layer of the skin, arterial walls and the alveolar walls in the LUNGS all contain elastic tissue.

A form of connective tissue in which yellow elastic fibers predominate. It is found in certain ligaments, the walls of blood vessels, especially the larger arteries, and around the alveoli of the lungs.
