A broad term covering all services required to care for patients in emergencies, at the sites of the emergencies, in transit, and at emergency facilities. It includes emergency medical treatment; transportation arrangements; communication among vehicles, personnel, and facilities; triage of patients prior to and following transportation; and mobilization of personnel and resources as necessary.
