Enteritis

Refers to inflammation of the small intestine.


Inflammation of the mucosal lining of the small intestine, usually resulting from infection. Regional enteritis is Crohn’s disease.


Acute or chronic intestinal inflammation.


Inflammation of the alimentary canal usually characterized by severe diarrhea.


Inflammation of the intestine, especially the small intestine, due to viral or bacterial infection or other disorder, usually marked by diarrhea.

Enteritis refers to inflammation that occurs in any section of the intestine, with a particular emphasis on the small intestine. The condition can be caused by various factors, including infections like giardiasis and tuberculosis, or it may be associated with Crohn’s disease. Typically, enteritis leads to diarrhea as one of its common symptoms.
