Eosin

A red crystalline solid used as a biological staining dye.


Red dye commonly used to stain cells, bacteria, and other materials for examination under the microscope


A red acidic dye, produced by the reaction of bromine and fluorescein, used to stain biological specimens for microscopical examination. Eosin may be used in conjunction with a contrasting blue alkaline dye taken up by different parts of the same specimen.


Any of several red dyes used in histology, often in conjunction with hematoxylin. It has an affinity for cytoplasm, which stains pink.


A pink-hued dye employed in pathology labs for staining tissue samples. It’s also used as a pigment in certain lipsticks and was initially utilized to detect sewer leaks due to its easily recognizable color.
