Ependyma

A thin membrane which lines the ventricles of the brain and the central canal of the spinal cord.


Very thin membrane that lines the ventricles of the brain and the central spinal canal; helps to form cerebrospinal fluid.


The extremely thin membrane, composed of cells of the glia (ependymal cells), that lines the ventricles of the brain and the choroid plexuses. It is responsible for helping to form cerebrospinal fluid.


The epithelial lining of the cerebral ventricles and the central canal of the spinal cord. The lining is composed of a single cell layer. Most of the cells have microvilli and motile cilia on their outer surface.


The membrane that lines the brain’s cavities and the central canal of the spinal cord.
