Epiphora

A condition in which the eye fills with tears either because the lacrimal duct is blocked or because excessive tears are being secreted.

Watering of the eye, in which tears flow onto the cheek. It is due to some abnormality of the tear drainage system.

Inadequate drainage of tears in the eyes with the result that they ‘overflow’ down the cheeks. The condition is caused by an abnormality of the tear ducts which drain away the normal secretions that keep the eyeball moist.

An abnormal overflow of tears down the cheek due to excess secretion of tears or obstruction of the lacrimal duct.

Excessive tearing can occur for various reasons, such as an obstruction in the duct that drains tears from the eyes into the nose, or due to overproduction of tears by the lacrimal gland.
