Equilibrium

A state of even adjustment between opposing forces.

That state or condition of a body in which any forces acting on it are so arranged that their product at every point is zero.

A balance between active forces and negative resistance.

State of balance, in which opposing forces (e.g., body chemicals such as calcium and phosphorus) exactly counteract each other.

When a daughter element is produced by the decay of its parent, a time is reached when the rate of production of one matches the rate of decay of the other. Thus, the activities of parent and daughter are identical. This is referred to as radioactive equilibrium.

A state of balance; a condition in which contending forces are equal.

A stable equilibrium where no alterations can occur.
