Er‐YAG laser

Er‐YAG is an acronym for erbium‐doped yttrium aluminum garnet, a compound used as the lasing medium for certain solid‐state lasers. Er‐YAG lasers typically emit light with a wavelength of 2940 nm, which is in the infrared range. The frequency of Er‐YAG lasers is at the resonant frequency of water, which causes it to be quickly absorbed; this limits its use in surgery.

Yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser, often abbreviated as YAG laser, is a versatile laser utilized in various medical treatments, such as hair and tattoo removal, dentistry, lithotripsy (a technique for breaking up kidney stones), and tissue cutting, as seen in procedures like iridotomy.
