Erythema ab igne

A pattern of red lines on the skin caused by exposure to heat.

Skin that appears red and patchy, which may also feel dry and itchy, is characteristic of Erythema ab igne. This condition is typically a result of exposure to intense direct heat, such as being seated too near to a fire. It is predominantly seen in older women.

The application of a soothing cream, or emollient, can often alleviate the symptoms of dryness and itching. While the redness will gradually diminish over time, it may not completely fade away.

Redness of the skin caused by artificial heat, commonly observed in individuals like stokers or in women who warm their legs near a fire.
