Expiratory stridor refers to an unusual noise that is audible when a person breathes out. It can happen if the vocal cords partially block the airflow or if there’s an obstruction in the trachea (the windpipe) or bronchi, the primary airways leading to the lungs. Expiratory stridor can present itself independently or in conjunction with inspiratory stridor.
