A cystic tumor of the female breast caused by occlusion of a milk duct. Fully emptying the breasts during feedings and cleaning the nipples to avoid nipple caking help the cyst resolve.

A galactocele is a specific kind of breast cyst that contains milk or a substance similar to milk. This typically happens when a milk duct in the breast is obstructed while a woman is breastfeeding. These cysts often form when breastfeeding is nearing completion, and the milk is left unutilized within the breast. On occasion, these cysts may become infected, leading to a condition called a breast abscess. Usually, these do not necessitate any form of intervention, as the body can either reabsorb the fluid or it can be manually expelled by massaging the breast towards the nipple.
