Gestodene is a progestogen drug employed alongside the estrogen drug ethinylestradiol in low-dose combined oral contraceptives. However, it’s worth noting that Gestodene has been associated with a slightly higher risk of venous thromboembolism (a condition where a blood vessel is blocked by a blood clot fragment) compared to older contraceptive drugs.
