Gingivostomatitis is a condition characterized by inflammation in the gums and mouth. The primary cause of this condition is often a viral infection, particularly herpes simplex. However, it can also result from a bacterial infection or be triggered by an adverse reaction to a prescribed medication. Identifying the underlying cause is crucial for appropriate treatment and management of gingivostomatitis.
