Glans

Gland like part, especially that at the end of the clitoris or penis.

A rounded part at the end of the penis or clitoris.

The acorn-shaped end part of the penis, formed by the expanded end of the corpus spongiosum (erectile tissue). It is normally covered by the prepuce (foreskin), unless this has been removed by circumcision. The term glans is also applied to the end of the clitoris.

The term applied to the ends of the penis and the clitoris. In the penis the glans is the distal, helmet-shaped part that is formed by the bulbous corpus spongiosum (erectile tissue). In an uncircumcised man the glans is covered by the foreskin or prepuce when the penis is flaccid.

The glans, also known as the head of the penis, is covered by a loose fold of skin called the prepuce or foreskin. During an erection, the foreskin retracts. In some males, circumcision is performed, removing this skin.

The term “glans” can also refer to the tip of the clitoris in females.
