Gonads

Reproductive glands: in males, the testes, and in females, the ovaries, gonadal hormones; gonad.

A sex gland which produces gametes and also sex hormones, e.g. a testicle in males or an ovary in females.

The sex glands, the parts of the reproductive system that produce the cells that can join together to form a fertilized egg at conception. The male gonads, the testes, produce the sperm; the female gonads, the ovaries, produce the ovum (egg).

Gland that produces sex cells (gametes). In males the gonads are the testes; in females, the ovaries. Also vital in production of sex hormones (e.g., estrogen, testosterone).

The sex glands—the ovary in the female and the testicle in the male—that produce reproductive cells and sex hormones. In a woman, the ovaries produce eggs and the female hormones estrogen and progesterone; in the male, the testicles produce sperm and the male hormone testosterone.

A male or female reproductive organ, which produces the gametes.

The organ responsible for the production of germ cells, known as gametes. In males, these reproductive organs are referred to as “testicles” and generate sperm. In females, they are known as “ovaries” and produce eggs.

The reproductive organs in the human body consist of the testes in males and the ovaries in females.

The sex glands, known as the testes in men and the ovaries in women, play essential roles in reproductive functions. The activities of both male and female gonads are controlled by gonadotropin hormones, which are released by the pituitary gland.

A reproductive gland, either a testicle or an ovary.
