Ketorolac

A nonnarcotic painkiller. Ketorolac (Toradol) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug ( NSAID) used to relieve moderate to severe pain, usually following a surgical procedure or an injury. It is not habit-forming, although it is often prescribed together with a narcotic to provide the best possible relief from pain. It may be injected or taken orally. Ketorolac has serious side effects and should not be taken for more than 5 days. Ketorolac is also available as an eye drop (Acular), to treat conjunctivitis and inflammation of the eye following cataract surgery.

A non-opioid analgesic used in the short-term management of moderate to severe, acute post-operative pain. It may be given either orally or by intramuscular or intravenous injection. Gastrointestinal side-effects are common in elderly people, and there are a range of side-effects from anaphylaxis to hypertension, prolonged bleeding time and liver function changes. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to aspirin, asthma, renal impairment and pregnancy (including during labour and delivery).
