Knowledge-based information management

A term used by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) in Standard IM.9.1 of the chapter on Management of Information. Knowledge-based information management “…consists of systems, resources, and services to help health professionals acquire and maintain the knowledge and skills needed to care for patients, support clinical and management decision making, and provide needed information and education to patients and families..”.
