Kymography

A technique used to record graphically the motions of body organs, such as the heart and the great blood vessels.


An instrument for recording the flow and varying pressure of the blood within blood vessels.


An apparatus for recording the movements of a writing pen, designed so that the pen moves in response to a force applied to it. The device consists of a drum rotated by a spring or electric motor. The drum is covered by a paper on which the record is made by the stylus of a pen. It is widely used in physiology to record activities such as blood pressure changes, muscle contractions, respiratory movements, and so on.


Radiographical examination to record the range of involuntary movements such as those of the heart or diaphragm.
